HONGKONG. 22nd. April, 1918.
In accordance with the provision of Section 14 of Ordinance No. 25 of 1917, I have the honour to report that after compliance with the formalities required
by the Ordinance a Deportation Order has been made against Li Hong-mi, a British subject, formerly Interpreter in the Supreme Court, who has for some time past been associated with a Firm of Solicitors in the Colony.
2.
I enclose a copy of the charges preferred against Li Hong-mi, who through his Solicitors and with the assistance of two prominent Counsel is seeking to obtain a judgment of the Supreme Court on the validity of the pro- -visions of the Deportation Ordinance, 1917.
As the case is of importance and the Attorney-General is overburdened with work I have caused Mr. E. H. Sharp, K.C., O.B.E., to be instructed to assist him.
I shall report in due course the result
of the legal proceedings.
